Happy Birthday Burkie!

Burke turns four today! 28 in dog years? This calls for a celebration. You definitely make our lives more interesting - thanks for putting up with us Burkilicious!

I was kind of going for the Norman Rockwell meets cartoon look here....am I even close? I wish my dang hand wasn't in the picture...along with all the empty bottles of pop, the spice rack, tv....pretty much I just need a portable studio complete with backdrop to be at my beck and call at all times. Today was the first time I've seen this pic, and I thought his look was priceless. bday numero uno.

Love heals all wounds...

Conversation two minutes ago:
Context: Austin, Burke, and I are playing hide n seek. (Austin and I under the covers of my bed, with burke bouncing around on top trying to find us). We sit up and scare burke and then he licks his paw.
Me: oh, no
Austin: He has a hurt paw?
Me: He might
Austin: kiss it better!

Makes me feel good to know that someone thinks my kiss can heal anything....even dog paw. LOL.

Cupcake Mania!!

I've been dying to try a couple cupcake recipes that I have, and there were a couple of coworkers with birthdays coming up, so I decided there wasn't a better time to try. I made red velvet with a whip cream - cream cheese frosting and camouflage yellow buttermilk cupcakes with a vanilla frosting. They turned out delicious...maybe a little too delicious...my sweet tooth has returned with a vengeance!

Cache County Fair

This last weekend was county fair time in Logan. It's always a big event full of great food, good music, and crazy people. We went and saw the pigs and sheep, listened to some country group, and had delicious homemade scones with honey butter - there is a reason the fair only comes around once a year...otherwise I would pack on 25lbs of scone weight ;) Lovin' Summer!

Lagooooon!

We decided to visit Utah's one and only amusement park last Friday. Perfect day - not a cloud in the sky. Kim, Jer, and Spen-dog decided to join us for the festivities. Cam's um...not much for amusement parks so he built a fence instead. What a trade.

Austin hadn't ever been before so I didn't know how he would handle a twelve hour day at a loud, hot, crowded park...but he loved it. Well, not so much lagoon-a-beach though. Not a fan of the 60 degree water (although you did get used to it after 5 minutes.) his idea of swimming was sitting on mom, who is sitting on a tube, floating down the lazy river. I don't think his big toe even got wet! We are definitely going to have to work on this. I seriously think that I'm going to buy two season passes for next year - they are only $100, and one regular day pass is $40. I think that is a killer deal. Anyway, so we didn't stay at the pool very long.

Austin went on all the rides; boats, planes, helicopters, puff the rollercoaster, the train, musical express (always makes me nauseous). His favorite ride there was seriously the oldest kid ride...those old bomb looking planes that have guns on them. He wanted to ride those over and over again. I tried to get him to ride the cute little cessnas, but he wasn't having it. Apparently they aren't fast enough. ha. he'll be riding the white roller coaster with me before he knows it!

All in all, it was a very fun day. Thanks to Uncle Jer, Aunt Kim, and Uncle Spencer for putting up with our slowness all day. A stroller always slows you down.

Life of the Care-Free

Austin has now decided that he must eat his breakfast outside on the back porch every morning. Burke is always watching that cereal like a hawk...and Austin has no idea that at any moment his food could be snatched away.
