A Finished Project...

Here are some pics of Cam's latest project upon completion. It was actually finished September 6th, but we have had a couple of things going on since then hence the picture delay. We (as in Cam...I provided the moral support) added a window casing and matching headers for the closet and door as well as a shelf, beadboard, and crown. I originally wanted the shelf and beadboard to go along three walls, but we ran out of time.

Introducing Mr. Aiden Carter Seamons

Last Tuesday night Cam finished the touch-up work on Aiden's new room and Cam said that all Aiden was waiting for was for his room to be done and then he would decide to come. Well, came he did on Wednesday afternoon. I had been having some mild contractions for a couple of days but they weren't consistent even though they were pretty painful so I wasn't too concerned. We were pretty nervous about what to do with Austin if I were to go into labor into the middle of the night; we ran through a whole bunch of different scenarios but decided the best option would be for grandma and grandpa to just come get him and keep him for a week or so just so no one would have to drive down here in the middle of the night. They came and got him on Tuesday afternoon because I was pretty sure that it was going to happen in the next couple of days. Went to bed Tuesday night with no issues and woke up early with Cam Wednesday morning. I started feeling contractions every 10 to 12 minutes that morning but they were only about a 4 on the pain scale so I decided to still try and go to work because of how busy we've been lately. I left about an hour earlier than usual thinking that maybe I'd get some emails sent off and raid my candy drawer since I wouldn't be seeing it for 3 months and then maybe come home if I was still in pain. Well, stopped at Starbucks for hot chocolate (don't ask why I was cold in September) and then got to work about 8. By then they were about 8 to 10 minutes apart and I wasn't feeling to great so I sent some emails off and then left around 9. I've really had the nesting thing like crazy this pregnancy and for some crazy reason, I really REALLY wanted a manicure and pedicure before I went to the hospital. I wanted them badly enough that I was willing to stop at the salon on the way home for toes. Luckily they didn't have any openings - yes, I called to check. I got home and decided to wait an hour to see if the contractions got any worse so in that time I did give myself a mani - complete with sugar scrub and soaking. By that point they were coming every 7 to 10 minutes and were pretty painful...painful enough that I couldn't really breath normal while they were happening. So I called Cam and said he better come get me because it was hospital time. On the way to the hospital they were getting very painful and he had to park in the farthest spot from the front doors as possible; when we got up to labor and delivery the front desk lady actually asked us what they were seeing us for that day...seriously? I have a broken leg, isn't it obvious?

My L&D nurse said they had an unusual number of ladies going into labor that day and we got the very last room. I was dilated to a six when we finally got admitted and then 45 minutes later got the epidural. Can I just say that those are seriously heaven sent? So we got there at 11 and then had the baby at 3:20 which was a heck of a lot faster than Austin was. Aiden came out screaming and didn't stop for seriously 6 hours. He has been a very good baby though...a very normal baby as in he wants to eat every 2 to 3 hours and sleeps all day and is awake all night. He already has a favorite blanky - which happens to be my favorite blanky, but I can share. His birth weight was 7.13 and 20 in. long. When we left the hospital he was 7.2 and we just went to the doc today and he was 7.8 so he is right on track.

So far this has been a lot easier and less traumatic than than the first pregnancy was. Knowing what to expect does wonders to ones mental state. :) I was also very glad that I went into labor on my own rather than being induced which I had been with Austin. That wasn't very enjoyable. I really don't mind staying up all night with him because he is wide awake and just stares at me all night and I think - although he hasn't said yet - that he loves my kisses. Speaking of, I need to go wake him up because he needs to eat. Here are some pics that we've taken of the little dude.

Oh, and Austin absolutely adores him. He wants to kiss his head constantly and he loves to hold him. He told us that when he was in my tummy that he missed him a lot. His reaction was definitely the more preferred reaction for a new baby. He has been really tender and clingy lately rather than being jealous and upset. I hope this is the beginning of a great friendship...(crossing my fingers)!

Babies on the mind...

As I'm sitting here at work, eating red velvet bundt cake (yum - thanks Mike!) and trying to decipher a tax basis spreadsheet, I thought I would take a little breather and post a couple pics of the sweetest baby girl ever. My bff had her a couple of weeks ago and I was able to go up to picturesque Bear Lake and take some photos. She was a perfect angel the entire time - just what her mom deserves after all the grief she went through to bring her here. I forget how little tiny they are....I have a hunch that this dude is going to come out a lineman or something. (eek!)

Just Another Sunday Drive....

Yesterday we got bored later in the afternoon so we decided to take a drive up to Monte Cristo. We went last November when pretty much everything was dying or dead so this time was a whole different experience because everything was so green. After several bathroom breaks, we made it up. We even saw a couple of patches of really old, really gross snow. This place would be awesome to bring four wheelers; Cam has snowmobiled up here many times too. I definitely want to come back up when the leaves have turned in the fall.

JDC Bear Lake Day!

We enjoyed a little fun in the sun today at Bear Lake. For our summer tax party, we decided to have a beach day at the lake. It was a gorgeous day and was a very fun time. The lake is about 9 feet higher than it was last year, which means there was pretty much no beach so we had to get there a little early to get a spot. Austin pretty much played in the sand the entire time. Occasionally he would dip his toes in the water in order to fill up his bucket, but for the most part, he was beached all day. Cache Valley Cruise-In 2011

Cache Valley has a long standing tradition of hosting a car show the first weekend in July; it's been going on forever and it culminates in a parade down main street on Saturday night that pretty much shuts the entire town down. If I were just passing through, I'd wonder if all these people were off their rockers because both sides of main street - all the way through town - are COVERED with chairs, blankets, rope, or whatever else people can find to save themselves a seat. This usually starts a day or two before the parade as people want to get prime seating for the big event. This year we decided not to be one of those people and just find somewhere to sit right before the parade starts...wouldn't you know that we found the best seating we've had in 5 years? With 5 minutes to spare? We did go down to the fairgrounds which is where all of the cars are shown. Most of the really cool stuff doesn't actually drive in the parade so if you want to see something neat, this is where you must go. It so happened that Saturday was a whopping 98 degrees...it seriously took us 2 days to recuperate...I know, we are a little bit woosie.
This is grandma and Austin chillin' under the tree. They sat here the entire time we walked around..except for the two times that Austin told grandma he HAD to go #2 and then they waited in the line forever to get into the reisty bathrooms and then he didn't have to go. Cam and his dad salivating over this Jeep...apparently there is about $90k in work done to it...

This cobra is worth a lot...a lot... of money. Not sure how much; Cam probably knows, but he is mowing the lawn right now.

Logan 4th of July Fireworks

Here we are enjoying a nice relaxing night at the Aztec church in Logan...very patiently waiting for the fireworks spectacular to begin...T-minus 4 hours and counting...

And the fireworks were spectacular this year (although F-16s would have been a nice touch.) ;)
