A little Nature...

On Sunday, it was super windy outside but clear as a bell so we decided to go for a drive. Cam wanted to go see the Ogden River up by Pine View Dam because it is in flood stage right now so we drove up to Pine View which is only about a 25 minute drive from our house; then we kept going and drove through Eden - one of the prettiest towns around - and then headed up this canyon. I believe it is North Ogden canyon; it has a pretty steep climb with very curvy roads. I think they shut it down in the winter because it would be a beast to keep plowed. Anyway, we came out along the Bonneville Shoreline trail that has a nice scenic overlook.

We are still working on our thumbs up.


Again, he is eating. I have learned my lesson not to give a 3 yr old a pack of Starbursts and think he will self-regulate. uh-uh. He not-surprisingly ate the entire thing and was bouncing off the walls in an hour. As homer would say....doh!

Last weekend...

Last weekend Grandma and Grandpa Daines commandeered the dude for three days. I absolutely LOVE having Grandma's and Grandpa's around...they are truly the best people on earth...mostly because they don't look at babysitting as doing me a favor; they look at it as me doing them a favor by letting him go. Nice, huh? We love them. We went to pick up the dude on Saturday and stopped by Gma and Gpa Seamons' for awhile. They have one of the prettiest yards around and so I had to pull out the camera.

Austin and one of his favorite people. Not sure what he is saying to Grandpa, but from the look of it, it must have been crazy.

Grandma and Grandpa have a bird next in one of their trees with a couple eggs in it...


I swear every time I take a picture of this kid, he is eating something; it's like Brad Pitt in Ocean's Eleven...only this isn't a movie and Austin is 3...hmm, close though.
There is part of an egg. Due to my height deficiency, that is all you get.

Spring is in the Air...

Yesterday was one of the few days we've had so far that have been nice and sunny, so we decided to take advantage of the weather and go for a nice, long walk along the Ogden River Trail. Cam wanted to see how high the water was, and Austin and I just wanted to take in some fresh air. The trail goes past the dinosaur park; it's kind of funny because the dinosaurs are always roaring when you walk by...the kids love it. I got a nice shot of dad & son sitting on a tree stump and a couple pics of some nice spring blooms. Awww, I LOVE this weather. I'm glad it is finally decided to show up.

Mowin' the Lawn

I Love the smell of freshly cut grass...I've missed it all winter and most of last year as well. The lawn isn't quite a year old yet and it is coming right along as my grandpa would say.

Austin is a big helper...if he has his dump truck, wheel barrow, flintstone car, and rake and shovel....his favorite place to park is underneath the deck. Maybe I'll get a picture of it sometime.

Apparently it was marker day at school because the dude came home with colorful drawings up and down his body...hmmm. It's a good thing they were washable. I think his favorite place to draw is up his nose. That is marker, not a booger - in case you were wondering.

April Showers

Thought I'd post a couple pics of the thunder/lightening storm that occurred about 2 hours ago. It didn't last, but it was long enough to blow all our neighbors garbage cans over and give our lawn a nice drink. W have baby leaves on the trees (Cam is ULTRA excited about this and made me take a picture) and our grass is nice and green (it has already been mowed 5 times this year...) maybe we'll get to use it this year after all. I'm a fan of spring thunder storms - especially when they are kind enough to wait for my golf game to be over with.

Under the Sea...

On Wednesday, Austin, my BFF Heidi, and I went down to SLC for some shopping and aquarium fun. We had never been to the Living Planet Aquarium before, so I thought we better go see what it was all about. Austin thought it was cool. Both Heed and I are preggars so the nasty fishy smell was kind of making us nauseous the whole time but other than that it was pretty cool. The outside of the place is slightly on the ghetto side; I swear it used to be in an old Kmart building or something. The inside was a lot nicer and there were some neat things to see. All the dude cared about was the shark tank (of course) and the dang anaconda. My favorite were the penguins and the gross octupus - just because I've never seen one in real life before. It was nasty. It was definitely something fun to do, but I don't think we'll be back anytime in the near future. I still smell fish...

After we headed over to Nordstrom's for a little R&R of shopping and eating at the yummy Nordstrom Cafe. If you haven't tried their bread pudding - it is a MUST. Completely fabulous.

Easter....etc.

Easter was spent basically enjoying mounds and mounds of sugar. I'm glad we have already gotten the dentist over for awhile, because we are going to need time to recuperate. We hit up the egg hunt in West Haven this year - it was kind of insane. I am used to the small town feel of the little Lion's Club sponsored Hyde Park egg hunt and this was nothing like that. There was at least 1000 people there! Austin kind of got overwhelmed at first and just stood there amidst all the candy and didn't pick up a dang one. Then he finally got into it and came away with about 10 whole pieces...whew. I think we'll probably go again next year because it seriously lasted maybe 10 minutes from the time we got out of our car to the time we got back in. Kind of funny. After that, I made my mom's recipe of chocolate dipped marshmallow eggs (YUM!), fruit pizza for dessert the next day, and we dyed eggs. On Easter we went to the official christening of my rent's NEW KITCHEN! It is spectacular - as soon as they get the tile back splash finished, there will definitely be pictures. Uncle Benster was nice enough to take Austin on another Easter egg hunt (so much sugar...). Fun-filled weekend, I'd say.
