My First Big Boy Bed...

Today was a big day in the life of Austin...we finally bought him a big boy bed and he is currently sawing logs like a baby...or a big boy whichever. Mom was more excited about the bed linens than the actual bed though...so I kindly let dad take care of putting the entire thing together. He got a big dresser too. He thinks this is because he is becoming such a big boy but it is mostly because new baby is needing a crib so he must move. We've been officially out of pull-ups at night for a week now so hopefully this doesn't jinx us. (cross fingers). I must say that this mattress is head over heels more comfortable than those wood crib mattresses are. They serve babies great but a pillow top is a lovely thing. Anyway, congrats to my little guy on the big step!

A Look Into the Future...

Went to the "big" ultrasound on Friday and got some pretty cool 3-D pics of the baby. Sorry for the crappy images, but I had to scan them at work so that Grandma could show them at her work...I'll redo tonight when I get home and can use some better equipment.

This picture is a front view of the baby's upper torso and face. The second image confirms that yes, it is a boy.
The top left image below is a side profile of the face. Top Right is a very interesting picture of the baby and the umbilical cord. The ultrasound tech told us that babies will grab a-hold of the cord and play with it and stick it in their mouths etc. I had no idea that they opened their mouth but apparently we have proof.


The bottom Left is a 3-D picture of his face. It looks like his eye is open and he is staring straight at us - which I don't think is the case; the tech said most babies don't open their eyes until 27 weeks, but you never know. The bottom right is a picture of him with his mouth open. In the video, we could see him putting his hand in his mouth and taking it out. Pretty cool.

7 Years? Sheesh!

Last week Cam and I celebrated our 7th anniversary. I really can't believe it has been 7 years; I am really lucky to have him and personally I think he is really really lucky to have me...kidding Cam! Kind of. We went to the Melting Pot (YUM) with our besties Heidi and Daniel and then my rents took the kid for part of the weekend. I would post a pick of dinner, but it is an extremely hideous picture of me looking like I am about to pop so I will spare ya'll the anguish. Instead maybe a little blast from the past. I can't believe I used to be that skinny...and I didn't even realize it. Agggh! Also, sorry about all the kissy picks...apparently that's all we did on our wedding day.

A little Nature...

On Sunday, it was super windy outside but clear as a bell so we decided to go for a drive. Cam wanted to go see the Ogden River up by Pine View Dam because it is in flood stage right now so we drove up to Pine View which is only about a 25 minute drive from our house; then we kept going and drove through Eden - one of the prettiest towns around - and then headed up this canyon. I believe it is North Ogden canyon; it has a pretty steep climb with very curvy roads. I think they shut it down in the winter because it would be a beast to keep plowed. Anyway, we came out along the Bonneville Shoreline trail that has a nice scenic overlook.

We are still working on our thumbs up.


Again, he is eating. I have learned my lesson not to give a 3 yr old a pack of Starbursts and think he will self-regulate. uh-uh. He not-surprisingly ate the entire thing and was bouncing off the walls in an hour. As homer would say....doh!

Last weekend...

Last weekend Grandma and Grandpa Daines commandeered the dude for three days. I absolutely LOVE having Grandma's and Grandpa's around...they are truly the best people on earth...mostly because they don't look at babysitting as doing me a favor; they look at it as me doing them a favor by letting him go. Nice, huh? We love them. We went to pick up the dude on Saturday and stopped by Gma and Gpa Seamons' for awhile. They have one of the prettiest yards around and so I had to pull out the camera.

Austin and one of his favorite people. Not sure what he is saying to Grandpa, but from the look of it, it must have been crazy.

Grandma and Grandpa have a bird next in one of their trees with a couple eggs in it...


I swear every time I take a picture of this kid, he is eating something; it's like Brad Pitt in Ocean's Eleven...only this isn't a movie and Austin is 3...hmm, close though.
There is part of an egg. Due to my height deficiency, that is all you get.

Spring is in the Air...

Yesterday was one of the few days we've had so far that have been nice and sunny, so we decided to take advantage of the weather and go for a nice, long walk along the Ogden River Trail. Cam wanted to see how high the water was, and Austin and I just wanted to take in some fresh air. The trail goes past the dinosaur park; it's kind of funny because the dinosaurs are always roaring when you walk by...the kids love it. I got a nice shot of dad & son sitting on a tree stump and a couple pics of some nice spring blooms. Awww, I LOVE this weather. I'm glad it is finally decided to show up.

Mowin' the Lawn

I Love the smell of freshly cut grass...I've missed it all winter and most of last year as well. The lawn isn't quite a year old yet and it is coming right along as my grandpa would say.

Austin is a big helper...if he has his dump truck, wheel barrow, flintstone car, and rake and shovel....his favorite place to park is underneath the deck. Maybe I'll get a picture of it sometime.

Apparently it was marker day at school because the dude came home with colorful drawings up and down his body...hmmm. It's a good thing they were washable. I think his favorite place to draw is up his nose. That is marker, not a booger - in case you were wondering.
